Sturtevant Falls

On Saturday the 22nd of June, our merry band of traveled the winding road up the San Gabriel Moutains in search of the waterfall that was mentioned in our guide book. We arried at Sturtevant Falls as the sun was inclining. Everyone was excited just to stretch their leg and to start our four miles journey, even Tiến, who was our inspiration and mascot for the day.

As we approached the unpaved portion of trail, we entered into “ Sherwood Forest”. The trees and foliage were luscious, and the stream along our path was cold and brisk. We had to cross the team several times and it was a task that everyone was involved with, especially in support of Tiến who needed a little extra help.

In one instance our Herculean, Bao, took a little fall while carring Tien across the stream; no one was hurt, just a little frazzled. We finally reached the clearing and stood in full view of the fall which was magnificent! Everyone had a moment of reflection while the falls showered us with its wonderful rays. After half an hour, we all made our way back to the car and by that time, everyone was hungry and tired.

We finished the day with a feat at Pastor Vinh’s house and recounted how lucky we all were to see the beauty that God Provided us.
