If we talk about him, then we must use all the fine words to describe him. He was a special man who was intelligent and energetic. At this point in history, he was needed to put away the heretics who followed a criminal by the name of Jesus who was given the death sentence by crucifixion. The man was Saul, a Jewish man, who despised Christians. He proclaimed that he, himself, had to totally destroy the roots of the people whose beliefs and practices were against the traditional Jewish religion. He considered Christians as heretics. Saul believed that Christians had to be punished regardless whether they were men or women.
One day, Saul asked for a letter of recommendation from the high priest so he could go to Damascus in search of the Christians to persecute them. On the road to Damascus, a bright light shined from heaven surrounding Saul causing him to fall to the ground. A short conversation occurred with the voice from above helped Saul recognize that he was persecuting the Savior and harming the true followers of Christ. At that instant, Saul met Jesus. Living with his blindness for a few short days, Saul had the opportunity to reflect on his hot temper and erroneous actions. His eyes were opened and he became one of the great Disciples of Christ with his name being changed to Paul.
Many people think they are serving God, but in reality they do not know much about Him. They have not met God and they are strangers to Him. They only know God in their thinking but not with their heart. They understand the Bible a great deal, but the teachings never touch their soul. Their work may be successful; the roads they travel appear bright; they are respected by many; but they still have not met God! Saul thought he was serving God, but in reality, he was persecuting God.
Sometimes we think we are help-ing but in reality we are destroying. All the things that we do will become use-less if we move in the wrong direction. The key point is that we must meet God and allow Him to touch our hearts.
If we work for God enthusiastically but never really meet Him personally; we might unknowingly, become the in-struments in the hand of Satan instead.
