Many of us today deeply regret things we have done in the past, wrongs committed, evil thoughts dwelt upon, or an uncontrolled temper. We long to be free from guilt and shame and to start a new life again.
Since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, generation after generation have disobeyed God and gone far away from God’s original ideal for the human race. God desired His wonderful created beings to live in peace and harmony with each other and with Him. The results of sin is only sadness and death. Every sin committed breaks the heart of God. Our heavenly Father longs to restore the human race back to Him and grant to all eternal life, – a life of peace and inexpressible joy.
There is hope! There is a blessed solution to all the terrible problems in this world. Not wanting the human race to be destroyed by sin, God made a plan of salvation for each one of us. Every Christmas season, we are reminded of the story of the wonderful birth of Jesus to this earth. God sent His own beloved son down from heaven to this world. He named His son “Jesus,” which means “to save His people from their sins”; and, “Emmanuel” which means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1: 21, 23).
It was not enough for God to stay in heaven and look down upon us here on earth. He had to send His only son to dwell among us and to later sacrifice His life for our sins. God’s plan of salvation demonstrates the incredible love and sacrifice for each one of us.
All our part is to Ask and Believe. Ask Jesus into your heart today. Pray a simple prayer, “Dear Jesus, I am sorry for my sins, please come into my heart today and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I accept your wonderful gift of salvation to me. Amen.” The Bible says, “. . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:31).
