My only son is almost 1 1/2 years old now. Time goes by so fast. As I look back from the day he was born until now, I see that he has brought my husband and I much happiness. His life is so simple and happy. When I feel down, he makes me laugh. He is so innocent, too. He does not know anything about the ugliness that is in the world. I would do anything for his good. I never realized how much love I could have for a child. As I care for my son, I begin to see the great love that God has for me and for humanity. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, from the majesty of heaven to this dark planet. Jesus came to give His life to save a fallen world. The tragedy is that those whom He came to save did not even care about Him. They actually crucified him. Jesus suffered humiliation, hatred, and death by those He came to save. Just to think of sacrificing my only son for ungrateful sinners seems too hard to bear. God’s great love gives me a new meaning now. What a great price for sin and what a fearful result of breaking God’s divine law. Let us not take for granted the infinite ransom paid for our salvation. Let us ask God to forgive our sins and to help us turn away from them. Jesus Christ’s free gift of eternal life is offered to all.
