There are many times that we wonder what to do next or what decision we should make in our lives. Recently I was going through a difficult time and I said to my husband, “I wish God would just write down on a piece of paper what I should do!” That night I prayed earnestly to God to give me some direction in my life.
The next morning, I went about my daily routine and a friend of mine named Abigail came by to do some paperwork with me. After we were finished, I shared with her that I was troubled and I could not decide what to do. Being a strong Christian, she started sharing with me many powerful Bible texts. I quickly got out a note pad and jotted down the texts. She also shared with me how she claimed God’s promises and how much the texts helped her in her daily life.
I listened eagerly to Abigail and told her that yesterday, I had wished God would just write down what I should do on a piece of paper. She immediately pointed to the note pad in my hand and said, “There it is!” God answered my prayer, and I did not even realize it. He answered my prayer through a good friend; and, I was actually the one who wrote down answers to my prayer on a piece of paper.
Many times, at the very low points in my life, when I am really discouraged, God has sent an answer to me. It has been through someone I happened to meet at a restaurant, many times through my husband and children, at church, through friends, or even a past circumstance that suddenly comes to mind.
I am again encouraged to know that God really cares about every concern that I have whether big or small. God is never too busy to care about our deepest needs. And most importantly, He always answers prayer. “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple and my cry did enter into his ears” (II Samuel 22:7).
